    Putra Square

A must-visit destination for  first time visitors to Putrajaya.  Dataran Putra in Precinct 1 is the city’s main square. The 300 metres circular Putra Square is designed in Persian or Iranian Charbagh style, which is a park with four components, with an interplay of paths, water channels, flower beds and trees. In the middle is a beautiful fountain surrounded by state flags of Malaysia. The circle in the middle with the fountain symbolises unity. The design of the square is divided into 11 segments, in the form of 11 pointed stars, representing the 11 states of Malaya when the country gained independence in August 1957, while the inner 13 pointed stars represent the 13 states of Malaysia and the 14 point star included the newly added Federal Territory. Also housed within this Square is the Putrajaya statute, a popular focal point for visitors to Putrajaya. Putra Square faces the Putra Mosque, below it the Selera Putra Food Court and the Chocolate Centre at Souq Putrajaya.
