Iconic Architecture
Palace of Justice
The Palace of Justice complex in Precinct 3 comprises a five-storey building for the judiciary and a two-storey building which houses the courts and offices. Its design concept takes inspiration from Islamic architecture as well as takes into account the design features of the Prime Minister’s Department and that of other buildings around Precinct 3. Granite stone is used as finishing for its exterior surface while glossy mosaic tiles finish is used on the dome. The design of the Palace of Justice combines the influences of classical Islamic culture such as the Taj Mahal in India, Moorish culture as with the Sultan Abdul Samad building in Kuala Lumpur and Western classical influence, like the Palladian. The classical design gives depth to the building surface and creates a fascinating articulated façade.
